After working in Peru for several years, Alvaro del Campo has returned to Environmental and Conservation Programs. As he did in 2002-2003, Alvaro organizes the field logistics for ECP’s Rapid Biological Inventories in South America. His skills as a photographer and environmental journalist have led him to publish several articles for local nature magazines featuring the inventories.

Alvaro has spent a great part of his life dedicated to conservation and responsible tourism programs in Peru and Bolivia. For eight years, he directed the Macaw Conservation Project in the southeastern rain forests of Peru. He worked for three years as Operations Manager of CIMA, a Peruvian non-governmental organization, as part of an interdisciplinary team that successfully implements the protection strategy for the 1.35 million-hectare Cordillera Azul National Park. Alvaro also taught environmental science to high school students in Chicago, and worked for the California Condor Recovery Program with the Zoological Society of San Diego.

Alvaro holds a B.Sc. in Animal Science from Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, and a M.Sc. in Environmental Management from the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies at Yale University.
